I see a solution... webby goes out before everyone... hides in a bush... then comes out and sets his clues up after the game starts?

Perhaps the plane could crash with a massive BANG 20 mins into the 1st game?

I can hide and deploy the items shortly there after.

Well Webby is sure that he can get out from the SZ after everyone else and into position and deploy his props without being seen, so that is good enough with me.

You will want to deploy the props then make the bang though.

in response to the different CP objectives having one which is 'audio' rather than 'visual' is interesting. On one position we could have, rather than a sign, something that must be heard - It would need to be something that is playing on a loop continuously for about an hours time that could be reported back.

Obviously this would be better with some form of German wireless radio for it to play through, but it is also something that can be done if we have the things to do it - if not then a simple sign will do.

The writing on the signs can also be smaller if needed.

I can supply a sound effects device if people can supply the sound effects...

Well I can supply some sound effects as well if needed.

BTW, At Cassino we didn't actually manage to see any of the recon boards as they were so well hidden behind enemy forces! So that was a hard mission!

Things such as ammo boxes, mortar tubes and fuel drums make good recce objectives. They can be seen from far away but making out exactly what they are (labels) and how many (some may be consealed) means you have to get closer.

I think sign posts would be good for actual directions rather than a unit name. We can have a couple of sign posts a key 'road' junctions which are easy to spot. Its something of minor value but still useful so worthwhile doing.

A looped radio transimission sounds like the best way to do audio. One that is a few minutes long so you have to wait a little bit to get all the info but not too long so you can't wait a 2nd tiem to make sure. It could include say 3 or 4 key bits of info- a unit name, location and numbers and perhaps an officers name spread throughout the track but nice and clear.

Need someone with a good German accent. I can supply "static" sounds... Webby has those already...

On the continuing theme of nicking ideas from others... One recon objective used at the FFZ Nam game last year that I liked was to get a count of the amount of ammunition stored at a specific base.

Yup, thats where I borrowed the idea from- crawling through a ditch for an hour to count the mortar rounds only to find someone else had done it kinda sticks in the memory. :slap:

OK that sounds good too.

So we have, at the moment, 3 recon objectives

1 - the fort. This will have to be a visual thing as we do not want the US players getting into the fort at this stage.

2 - Audio. A player repeating a 2 minute long radio transmission that they need to hear.

3 - Up close. a counting exercise of, say, ammo containers/mortar rounds that requires the players to get close in.

The fort one we could ask them to draw a map of the defences being constructed. So they have to not the position of everything they see, arcs of fire and possible approach routes. this can be done from far away.

The others can be the German forward OPs. One with a radio and one with a mortar. Perhaps part of the radio message could also be a frequency or codeword. They could in theory capture the OPs as they would be weakly defended but the aim would be to remain undetected or the Germans may move the mortar or change the radio code/frequency.

Plus we have a couple of signposts for extra browny points and of course Lt 'Ace' Webster.

Right then, I think I am satisfied with the first segment there and others appear to be to?

I can put together a 1-2 minute German radio message - Do I assume we would want it in the actual German language? Or in an English with an accent?

Webby says he's gone off the nickname "Ace" and wants to use "Maverick" or "Iceman" instead.
